A No-Sew Pen Holster for my Life, er Diary

This little book carries a lot of weight for me.  It helps me get where I need to go, remember what I need to remember, and is the place where I jot my dreams, plans, poems, sketches, and more.

A handy pencil is a must so I made a quick and easy (no-sew) pencil holster for my dairy last week.
I printed a photo of Ginger on plain paper and mounted it on a square of manila folder for added thickness and durability.

I used a 1 1/2 inch strip of scrap fabric (used in Matt's wallet and our bocce bag) for the actual holster.  I folded the strip in half and then in half again to enclose all the raw edges, as in this video.
Using spray adhesive I glued the photo inside the back cover of my diary with the fabric loop sandwiched in between.

Boom.  Pencil holster.
Now I won't be digging for one every time I want to write something down.

Added bonus:  Getting to see Gingee-poo's adorable little face more often.

  1. ...what a neat idea...mine is spiral bound and I usually just tuck the pen in there...but this is so cute!

    1. Confession: I have an aversion to spiral bound journals. I'm always springing them apart. I'm not sure if it is because I carry them everywhere or what...

My cousin informed me shortly after making this project that she just tucks hers in the elastic strap that is attached to keep the cover closed. That works, too.
