That is often the case at higher elevations around here, but in my town we have a nice mixture--I'd probably say more deciduous that evergreen. It would be nice to have fresh picked veg year round, but there is something to having part of the year "off," too. As long as the summer bounty is canned, dried, and frozen for winter use!BLD in MThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06449967376288331137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2536895335969103038.post-57664531034729281512014-11-26T09:46:54.776-07:002014-11-26T09:46:54.776-07:00Last year was the first year we covered all the be...Last year was the first year we covered all the beds with leaves and they seemed to break down enough over winter. I don't recall digging them in. Of course, we also had a record breaking long winter with record snowfall. So, I guess we'll see! We always look forward to the slower season that come with having the garden put to bed. Most of our trees here in NZ are evergreen, no free leaves for us to use! But then we don't need to put our garden to bed for the winter months..
Cabbage Tree Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13035566919486082520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2536895335969103038.post-34615542065077811272014-11-24T13:51:17.656-07:002014-11-24T13:51:17.656-07:00Lovely! Do you find that the leaves decompose enough over the winter or do you mix them in with the soil come spring?
-Jaime Ngo Family Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15484243776589015749noreply@blogger.com
