I cannot tell you the number of times I've walked out of a store because I didn't want to pay the price or knowingly buy something I knew would go to waste. I was raised by parents who lived through the depression and they didn't waste anything. My mother made rugs out of our worn out clothes. When bread started being packaged in plastic my grandmother made rugs out of the wrappers. I still had one of those rugs 10 years ago and my grandmother died in 1982! But I will agree you have gotten a bit obsessive, but it is a good kinda obsession.Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15032479084775154076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2536895335969103038.post-6085389262937772062016-11-01T19:26:14.705-06:002016-11-01T19:26:14.705-06:00Good luck this month! I'm guessing it was originally to be as self-sufficient as possible - to not waste it, or spend it thoughtlessly. So, if you buy some nice whatever now and then - something you will appreciate and actually use - you are still being faithful to your original intent. You're also helping out the bakery, who is providing a need in the community. You shouldn't feel guilty about it. :) Sometimes we need a treat, or a rest from our routine.
