Tastes From the Garden
We had creamy potatoes and peas last night with dinner.
The peas were picked and the potatoes dug just one hour before they were in the pan. I love that. There was the fresh earthy flavor that only comes with such recently dug potatoes. I love that, too. It tastes so markedly different than a potato far from its home.
As dinner concluded Matt said he'll consider the 2021 garden a success simply because he got the timing right for combining new red potatoes and fresh peas. The rest is all a bonus now, I guess.
Hi Beth,
ReplyDelete...your peas and potatoes look delicious...and you're definitely right about the freshly dug potatoes...
~Have a lovely day!
They taste like dirt...and it is GOOD THING! It sounds weird to say, but its so true indeed.
DeleteWe began digging our potatoes yesterday too. The peas are long gone here, but I agree, there's nothing better than freshly harvested food from the garden.
ReplyDeleteThe freshness can't be beat! Plus, I feel a great sense of accomplishment, too. Starting something from seed and caring for it for months until it is ready to fill the plate! Its super fun. And yum!
