Build Your Fire On The Grate

You know that saying, "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade?"  Well, I've got a new one along the same lines: "When the Rangers assign you a fire pit full of water, build your fire on the grate."

Its hard to tell from the photo, but our fire pit was full of accumulated rain water.  There must have been a good five inches in there.  The charred logs were floating!  It was brisk though and a fire was more than welcome...so where there is a will, there is a way.  I expected the fire to fall through the grate, but you know, it really didn't.
