A GEM of a Job

Matt started a new job last week.  Huzzah!
Matt started a new job that is almost too good to be true.  Double huzzah!
He is still working in grocery, but he now has a gig down at our local co-op grocery store--the Good Earth Market (GEM).
Its such a keen fit for him, working in a store that emphasizes sustainability, local producers, and community.  The people who work there are super friendly--and the customers are the sort of people who care about more than just getting food and household products for the cheapest possible price.  They're people who put value in the idea that the care given to the animals killed for food and the earth which produces the things we need for our daily lives really matters.
At the co-op they conserve energy and water, have the best selection of local products around, host workshops and community events, serve vegan food in their deli, house a great little art gallery, offer a fabulous bulk section, and more!
On top of all that warm-fuzzy stuff he will be working just Monday through Friday again--and he can grow a beard again, too!    Triple huzzah!

We're both pretty much over the moon about it.

  1. Wow that sounds just ideal. Is it strange to say I was a bit disturbed about the "no beards allowed" rule? Pleased to hear it's no problem now.

  2. Congrats! Way to go Matt! While reading the beginning of your post I kept thinking, "yes, but what of the beard?!" Happy he will have that choice again if he wants it back :)
