We did it... again!

I've read that once something happens it is more likely to happen again.  It was in one of Masuru Emoto's books about water crystals.  He said that at one point it was commonly known that glycerin didn't crystallize...until one barrel did during transport.  Not so long after it that happened again.  And then again.  And then again.  It caused quite a stir.  Now it is commonly known that glycerin crystallizes.  It didn't used to, but now it does.  Or so I read.  So maybe this isn't all that surprising, but we managed to use all eight triple word scores again--a mere two weeks after it happened the first time.  I'm so blessed that it doesn't take much to make my day.

  1. Good job! I see you use foreign words and initials and "lo," whatever that is. You are torturing me with Scrabble. I don't have anyone to play with me!

    1. We once found an Official Scrabble Cheat Sheet that had all these wonderful little two letter words that help hook to other words for better scores. Lo is a word mostly commonly used in the context "Lo and Behold." Certainly not a word I say, but certainly one I play.

It also included Z words, J words, Q words, Q words that don't requite a U (very helpful!), and some other things. And commonly used foreign words (like "nada") are accepted--though around my board what constitutes "commonly used" has been debated.

Whew....now with that all said let me explain that I once had a professor who was the top ranked Scrabble champion in Montana (not that there are many ranked Scrabble champs in Montana, he always pointed out). He had Scrabble Club nights. It was too intense for me and I always lost. I don't mind losing, but I don't want to play with people who are so out of my league as to win by 100 points every game. They even timed matches like in chess. Don't get me wrong--it was great and the people were great--but it was not for me in the end.

I'm sorry to torture....that is certainly not my intent. Maybe there is a way to find a Scrabble Club in your area. I mean, if we have on here they have to exist elsewhere.

  2. Very cool! My lovey and I have always enjoyed playing scrabble. Once I was able to use all seven of my pieces to make a word and got some incredible score !! I keep thinking that quinoa could be a useful scrabble word :)

    Cheers,

    1. Oooh, quinoa would be a good one! : )

All seven happens so very rarely it is always cause for a little celebration and cheering. We call it a "Bingo!" though I don't know for sure why.

  3. Thought of you when I read the article in link below. We do not have a fancy board as pictured in the article, I think the one we had my parents bought in the 70's, we are missing one letter, an A, but otherwise it is in tip top condition.
The article gives more "officially approved" words to use!! Always a good thing.

    1. Thanks so much! I added the list of words to our other Scrabble "cheat sheet."

Our Scrabble board was from Matt's childhood home and is so dated that it is actually made by a company called "Selchow and Righter" who manufactured the game from the 1950's to the 1980's. Most Scrabble boards that I've seen are made by Hasbro. I'd be curious to know if yours is a S & R board, too.
