My New Favorite Bread

When I first posted about no-knead bread I was going to call the post The Easiest Bread Ever.  In the end I changed it to The Easiest Bread Yet because I figured I might someday stumble upon an even easier way.  And now I have!  Sooner than I expected even!  It is no knead, one raising, awesome, chewy bread.
Meet my new favorite bread!
Easy Oatmeal Bread
2 1/2 cups water (105-115F)
4 teaspoons active dry yeast
2 tablespoon honey
4 cup flour
2 cup rolled oats
2 - 3 teaspoons salt
olive oil

In a medium bowl, add the yeast to the water and stir until the yeast dissolves. Stir in the honey and set aside for five minutes or so until it gets a bit thick.
While that is working its magic combine all the dry ingredients.  Combine the wet mixture with the dry and stir very well.
Oil the inside of two bread baking tins.
Dump the dough into the tins, cover with a clean, slightly damp cloth, and set in a warm place for 30 minutes, to rise.  Feel free to let it raise an hour if you have the time, but 30 minutes will do.
Preheat the oven to 350F. When ready, bake the bread for 35-40 minutes, until golden and pulling away from the sides of the pan.
Remove from the oven, and turn the bread out of the pan.
Makes 2 loaves.

  2. Thanks for sharing the recipe - I am definitely in need of a no-knead option.

  3. I am going to clarify this in the actual recipe above, but you should oil two bread tins and distribute the dough/batter evenly between the two. I bet all you experienced cooks would have figured that out no problem....but it wasn't written real clearly.
