Accidental Halloween PoemBut yeah!
Finally
froze.
Frost all
sparkly and nice
on the grass!
My breath makes clouds
of steam while cycling.
But then I got sucked
into watching the leaves
twirling, twirling, twirling
down
from this tree on campus.
They were dancing.
It felt very fall.

I won the staff costume contest for the second time in a row. This year I had a Jimmy-Buffett-Librarian-of-Margaritaville vibe. 10/31/2024 |
This poem is--word for word, punctuation and all--a message from me to Hannah, Chantz, and Val on Halloween morning. I didn't intend for a poem to come out of it, but after I clicked send...I thought it was. So I reformatted it. Boom. Accidental Halloween Poem.

Our tangle of artichokes dominates the foreground of this photo. My favorite tree is, again, in the background. We ate 60+ artichokes...and then let them go to flower. 10/14/2024 |

Autumn is spectacular this year. The days of warm weather extended well into October. The color change in the leaves has been glorious and prolonged. There were so many trees that stopped me with their marvelous dancing, twirling leaves.

The vine that covers our back fence always changes color, but seemed extra vermillion and wine-hued this year. 10/10/2024 |
We got our first light touch of snow last night, gone just as quickly as it came. Where did this year go? I swear it was just springtime.

An artichoke blossom. Matt loves 'em and has been sharing them with friends and colleagues. This one is in a vase on our kitchen table. 11/6/2024 |
